September 2016 Reflection

It's time for me to do our monthly reflection and I really don't feel like doing it because I am not proud of what I did this past September for our blog and bookstagram. Certain things (which I'll get to in a bit) are doing well, but I just don't feel like I am doing anything. (Explanations will come shortly.)

If you are new to our monthly reflections, let me catch you up. In these little reflections, I look back at how the month was for our Instagram and blog, by looking at statistics along with my own thoughts and opinions. I also look ahead and write about what will hopefully happen in the next month, in this case October.

Looking Back Into September

The Blog
If you look at it one way, we did well in September. But if you look at it in another way, the blog didn't do well this past month. What's good is that the blog got 655 pageviews this month, which is about 23% more views than last month!

The bad thing is that I really did not post this month. I only posted six times this month, when I should have posted three times, meaning that I missed three days of blog posts, including this one, which should have posted last Friday, September 30th. I guess I have to get used to writing blog posts and going to school again. Looking back, I started writing all of the blog posts around May, when Em only wrote one blog post. However, at that time, I still had posts stocked up and some extra time because homework became more and more just studying for finals. This was my first month with a good amount of homework and writing all of the blog posts....I don't know how I'll survive October, especially because I've already missed a posting day.

Note: This part was written back in early October; I really didn't "survive" October, now did I?

Instagram
I forgot to write down how many followers we had at the end of September, but I think it was 703 or a little more, meaning that we gained about 243 followers this month. Some other things that happened this September were...

  • September 14th: Our second feature on @bookstagramfeatures, a feature account for bookstagram accounts
  • September 26th: Our second feature on @bookworm_insta, a feature account for bookstagram accounts
  • September 29th: 700 followers

Goals
So...I didn't exactly complete my goals for September:

  1. Sorta? Some posts got a good amount/more pageviews, but others still had a low number. I'm glad to see that some people are enjoying my posts, though.
  2. Ha! That's funny! No, I did not use our posting schedule. I started to use it in the beginning, but then, as you probably know already, I had a lack of inspiration along with school assignments that led me to not writing blog posts and thus not using my posting schedule.
  3. Huh? Was I supposed to do that? Yeah: I definitely didn't do that. I kept on thinking about it, but never actually got around to doing anything? Heh heh...

Coming Up in October

So...the problem is this: October is already basically over. Agreed? Agreed. I mean...it's already the 24th of October, which only leaves two more posting days in this month. I'll probably have an apology post along with a book review on Salt to the Sea that I started to draft in late August but completely forgot about and never worked on again.

Comments

  1. You have some really great stats in terms of increased page views and Instagram followers. Congrats!

This Month's Popular Posts

Quotes: The Nightingale

I realized that, over a year ago, I wrote a post called "Quotes: Audacity" , and that this post did really well (it's actually Reading is Inevitable's most read post!), and yet I never wrote another post of quotes from a book. I liked writing that post, too. I like sharing quotes I like from books. That's why I started doing it on our bookstagram page . So why did I never write another one of these "quote blog posts"? I don't know. But I intend to write at least another one. And that's why I'm here today. Well, there's that, and then there's also the amazing book that is The Nightingale.  If you've read some of my recent blog posts or have poked around a bit, you would know that exactly a month ago I published my book review on The Nightingale , in which I explained my love for it and why you should read it yourself. And while I actually have another post in the works on that book because it definitely deserves more than on...

Quotes: Audacity

As some of you may know by looking at my posts on our social media page (@readingisinevitable on Instagram), I am currently reading Audacity by Melanie Crowder. It is a beautiful book written in free verse, and follows the life of Clara Lemlich, a female Jewish immigrant who came to America in the early 1900s. (For the full summary of the book, click here .) I absolutely love books written in free verse, or any type of poetry, in fact! This book is so lovely that I have decided to dedicate a whole post to some of my favorite quotes or parts! (Note: I am only on page 294, and there are 366 pages, not including the extra content at the end of my local library's copy.)

Movie Adaptations: The Glass Castle

The Glass Castle  movie came out a little over a week ago, and, since I had read and enjoyed the book, I went to see the movie with some of my family on Tuesday. Now, while there was nothing wrong with the book itself, I was a little worried about seeing the movie. Why? Well, it didn't exactly get the best comments and reviews from others, people claiming that it didn't do the memoir justice. But, now it's been almost a week since I've watched it. What do I think of the movie? Well... (Oh, and, uh...spoilers ahead. I think that goes without saying.) Watching the Movie The Beginning I don't know what it was, but something was just telling me that, oh no, this movie is going to be bad . I think it was just the way that they tried to include parts of the book in the movie. When it's in the book, spread out and flowing naturally with the good writing...? It makes sense, it seems real. But just something about the way that they were stringing together di...

August 2017 Reflection

Can you believe August is already over? I don't know about you, but this month has felt like it never even begun — and yet, somehow, it's over. Wow. But you know what that means, right? You guessed it: another monthly reflection! Basically, my monthly reflections are a way for me to to reflect on what happened for the bookstagram and blog in the past month, allowing me to more easily improve within the next month and giving you guys a wrap-up of what happened. I also write about my goals and plans for the next month, keeping myself on track and giving you all a sneak peek of what's to come! With that, let's begin! (You can look at past monthly reflections here.) Looking Back Into August The Blog Unfortunately, the blog did a bit worse in August by only 4 pageviews, or 1.6 % . So, you could say that the blog did around the same, that pageviews were pretty consistent and that they're fairly steady, which would be a good thing. I also published a post on e...
